If you plan on going to Disney, Florida or CA, this is the year to go. They are having a millenium celebration that is incredible. Whatever you do have fun. New Orleans is cool, Arizona is fun(hot). East coast has tons of stuff. ------------------ Simply said. WWW.Definc.com IP: Logged |

No t-shirts yet and I'm really attached to my coffee mug. Legoland (http://www.legolandca.com/) is a lot of fun if you're a Lego nut (it's about an hour north of San Diego). The "World Famous San Diego Zoo" (http://www.sandiegozoo.com) is about 10 blocks from this office and is very nice (one of the top zoos in the world). But I don't think they'll let your son play with the alligators. San Diego is about 2-3 hours south of Los Angles which has Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios. If you are interested in theme parks this is the place to be (second choice would be the "lower-right coast": Florida). Sadly I know nothing about sports down here. IP: Logged |

A new air conditioner you say, now that sounds might interesting. I figured that it wouldn't be anything overly extravegant, though lego land sounds appealing and since you mentioned it my wife did list the zoo as a preferable item of interest, my son loves animals only problem is he usually likes to try and get in with them. He once became very upset he wasn't aloud to cuddle a small alligator at a reptile show we took him to.Cheers

Can I get a 'Doug' t-shirt in the gift shop? Or better yet a JCL coffee mug. IP: Logged |

Sure, but you may find the Conitec tour a bit of a let down if you visit after going to Disneyland. Your tour of Conitec will begin in the main office where you can see the fax and credit card machine we use to handle most of our orders. Then you will be whisked off to the supply room to count the boxes of Galep-3's, 3DGameStudio CDs, and FedEx mailers (we just installed a new air conditioner here so you may want to wear your coat!). Then you will visit our sink where, if you are really lucky, you can watch Conitec's own tech-support guru (me) brew a pot of coffee using a French press! Then you can visit my office and watch me answer actual tech-support questions. Don't forget to visit our gift shop on the way out (okay, its the main office again) where you can buy a copy of 3DGameStudio and save the shipping costs! Approximate tour time: 5 minutes. The truth is Conitec in San Diego is just a small office where we handle sales and tech-support questions (no manufacturing, development, or water slides). If your in the neighborhood feel free to drop by but it really isn't that exciting (even when I'm brewing coffee). San Diego does have a lot to offer though (SeaWorld, The San Diego Zoo, TJ, and Legoland) so if you plan on visiting the 'lower-left coast' you should check this town out.

I too am planning on visiting the Us, it has been a goal of mine for years, I/we are waiting for our kids to grow up a little more so they can enjoy the trip also.I have heard that flights within the US are quite cheap, could any one post some examples of prices such as California - Florida. I am a mad sports fan, so some of my trip ideas revolve around attending some matches. The only problem is the teams I seem to support are scattered all over the place. Atlanta Braves - We bummed out this year Chicage Bulls - We still stink stince Mike and Pip left, Now I cheer for Portland to win another one for Pip. 49ers - We just stink now Anyway the wife is keen for all the Florida action mentioned earlier, and just for a lark I'd love to attend a show like Letterman or Springer, we don't have that type of show here in OZ. Are trips to Conitec actually possible, and if so what does it consist of, real curious about that one. I'd love to check out Venice beach also, I used to compete a little in Body Building, although very unsuccessfully. Of course all the sights to be admired too. Theres jsut far too much stuff to see and do in a country whos population of one city (NY) is almost as much as our whole country. I've been told I should check out St Louis and go to the Cardinals Club house, I am always getting told that I look exactly like Mark McGwire, even my wife thinks this is true to the point of mixing up some pictures of me and him when I try and trick her. Ironically we are almost the same height and weight. He is an inch taller. Anyway thats enough babble look forward to any pointers about the sports and a reply about the Contitec tour Cheers P.S If I post 40 times on this thread does this make me an expert about everything except A4!!!! If you visit L.A you will be in the mddle of the hot spots in ca,. You have the beach right their about 20 miles away you have the mountains were you can go sking ,sleding , snow ball fighting are just enjoy the beauty with your conpanion. Or you can drive 40 miles and go dirt bike riding, dunebuggy off roading are 4 wheeling. You might just want to see how awesome the landscape is and how beautiful the sunset is or how many stars you can see at night billions. You could visit all the movie studio's and the amusment parks like disneyland, knotts berry farm, universal studio,s or the wax museum. Their are alot more also but i can,t remeber them all. You could visit conitec in San Diego thats about 105 miles from L.A. While your in San Diego you could cross the border and visit mexico for a few hours. Their is alot to do in California. Thier is alot of great places you could visit in the U.S.A. It seems there's a bunch of us that live within about two hours of each other. I'd love to get together with any A4 users sometime. I'll even supply the crappy American beer!By the way, I was just in Manhattan over the weekend, at ResFest. Anyone interested in indie digital film/video should check that out sometime (it's now over this year). www.resfest.com [This message has been edited by bdonohue (edited 25 October 2000).] IP: Logged |

Like Neonlite, I also live near Philadelphia (in southern New Jersey) and am only about 2 hours from New York City. Both of us are only about 2 hours from Washington DC as well. So, if you come to this area, I would love to get together with BOTH of you !IP: Logged |

Camping Mobiles could be trailers, Mobile Homes, Recreational Vehicles (RV's), campers??? You only need to be 18 in many states and some even younger. The drinking age is 21 in most states if not all. That could be a problem, but the beer isn't as good here anyway .Niagra falls is a good tourist Natural Wonder, but technically the Canadian side is what you want to see. Its much better although there are some very cool sites on the US side as well. It is close to Buffalo which isn't huge, but a city. If you don;t like desert-like conditions or waterfalls, there is always the state of Louisiana which has the largest river in North America running through it and one of the more peculiar cities in North America (New Orleans). There is much to see close to New York City, too. Philadelphia is 2 hours away, the Jersey beaches are very close not to mention the New England sites like Martha's Vinyard, Vermont, and New Hampshire. The Appalachin Mountains are beautiful and there are many parks and lakes. This would give you a decent disection of America and be a shorter flight! It will take 5 more hours to reach the west coast from Germany. Good luck and if you decide to go to New York, I work about an hour from there and live 2 hours (near Philadelphia) and would be glad to show you around some! ------------------ Neonlite "Never express yourself more clearly than you are able to think." hehe....I definately want to see at least one of the metropoles and of curse some of the natural "wonders"... Museums are not so my case... about driving car... Am I allowed to drive with 20 in the US? Or was this 21 or older restriction only for camping mobiles (what were they called again...?) IP: Logged |

That depends on what you like to do in your vacation. The US have many of the greatest places in the world. If you like musicals, museums and the flair of a big city, definitely spend a week in Manhattan. If you (as I do) like hiking in impressive, unbelievable desert landscapes, spend one or more weeks in the "Four Corners" area (Utah / Arizona) - especially Grand Canyon, Zion, Grand Staircase, and Mesa Verde. Do it as late in the year as possible to avoid the hordes of other hikers. And for the usual US tourist experience, go to San Francisco, rent a car there, and drive slowly down to the Mexican Border. On that trip, don't forget to visit Conitec in San Diego... IP: Logged |

you want scenery? two spots or drives I recommend; up and down the California coast and maybe into Kings Canyon (100 foot tall granite cliffs cut out by a river)... There's Yosemite, then there's also the Great Southwest; Grand Canyon; Zion National Park.IP: Logged |

Firoball,For the first trip, I would suggest Orlando, Florida. There is Disneyworld with a variety of parks, Universal Studios, Wet & wild water park and many others. Also, the Florida Keys are not too far away with great snorkeling and SCUBA diving. For second trip, I'd suggest a winter trip to Colorado. For natural beauty, including Red Rocks Amphitheater and Garden of the Gods, it is hard to beat. Denver has a wide variety of activities (Six Flags, Ocean Journey, hiking, mountain biking, etc.) and some of the highest rated ski areas in the US. RichB

I live in the US and haven't travelled too much... but I think Washington DC is great for a tourist. Lots of museums. You can get maps and do a lot of walking from place to place. Or the subway system (can't recall what they call their rail system) isn't too expensive and relatively clean and safe. I've been to DC 3 times, once when I was young and twice recently for operas. The Kennedy Center tour was nice if you're at all into "the arts."Marcia IP: Logged |
